Do you often experience soreness after contortion practice? One common issue I frequently observe in individuals training in contortion is the tendency to compensate hip flexibility with their lower backs. This not only leads to discomfort during bending but can also result in long-term issues.
During this workshop, we will explore various techniques using bands, blocks, and other props to help you locate and engage your hips effectively in different contortion poses. Our focus will be on how to activate and strengthen the muscles around the hips, including the lower abdominals, gluteus medius, upper hamstrings, gluteus maximus, psoas, and more. This will help address the underlying reasons preventing you from utilizing your hips fully in backbends.
